THE EXTREME HOME and PERSONAL MAKEOVER

Jean came into Love INC in 2004 for rental assistance, food and medical prescription help. Zeneida shared with her about the Lord as she was going to Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall at the time. Jean was grateful for the help from local churches, but continued struggling with depression and social anxiety. She came back in July 05 in need of help getting her 2 bedroom apartment cleaned and organized. After a home assessment, Love INC didn’t think we could meet this large need. However, God had a plan. He sent 20 volunteers from Bremerton, WA through Glacier View Alliance church to help move all of her daughter’s stuff to her new apartment. They then took everything out in one day, then organized, cleaned and put back in the 2nd day. Jean had to let others decide what to keep and what to get rid of. It was so stressful for her she couldn’t help. When she came home, the house was a home again! Jean started coming to Love INC in the mornings for prayer, and a volunteer continued to check on the apartment weekly to check on the cleaning status.

The extravagant love shown through the volunteers made Jean to ask many questions. Carol was able to lead Jean to the Lord and everyday God did something amazing in Jean to give her hope and joy again. She starting telling everyone she met about how God had been changing her since she got saved. Jean has now been saved just over a month. She is going to 2 bible studies, 3 church services, Confident Kids programs and Love INC prayer every week because she is so hungry. She found out that she was going to have to move. “I Praise God for the home and personal makeover. I would not have been able to move and get out of my bad situation without help. I appreciate the love that was shown to me through all the work Love INC and the volunteers did, plus the follow ups. If it hadn’t been for this I would not have come to know Christ as my Savior.” Even physically, she no longer suffers from asthma, high blood pressure and cholesterol or sugar diabetes.

“BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW!” (JULY 2005)

Tim* came to Alaska to start his life anew. He was a Christian when younger, but had ran away from God. He began attending a local church and started getting Pastoral Counseling. A Christian family took him in temporarily, but he needed a longer-term housing solution so he came to Love INC. We were able to get him into Oxford House which is transitional housing for men with former addictions. He found two part-time jobs, but needed reliable transportation. The day after his request and prayer over the need, Pastor Al from Worldwide Church of God brought in a wonderful bicycle the perfect size for a burly guy. At first he said “I can’t take that bike. It’s too nice!”, but later he graciously and thankfully accepted the provision to get to work. Everyone in the office was encouraged as he humbly called to thank us each time a need was met such as emergency food from Lamb of God, Manna Ministry, and Wasilla Lake Church of the Nazarene, clothes from Earthly Treasures, toiletries from Wasilla Christian and linens from Pilgrim’s Baptist. Hope and excitement about life was restored through the various acts of kindness. Praise God for a new, transformed life in Christ!

MAY 2005

Bill* came into Love INC distressed and in tears. It was his birthday and everything had been going wrong. He was so surprised that all the volunteers sang Happy Birthday to him as they gave him a present of a phone, a Bible and a loaf of bread from Manna Ministries. Bill, his wife and 2 children had been homeless for the past year, often living in their truck. They needed help to get into an apartment. We really wanted to help bring some stability to this family of four. Partnering with Mat-Su School Homeless Liason, Behavioral Health Services, Kids are People, and Valley Residential Services, we were able to get them into an apartment and get gas vouchers to keep the kids in school! Praise God for His abundant provision! Bill said “We are so thankful that the four of us don’t have to sleep in our truck anymore. Thanks so much!” Wasilla Christian Church blessed them with toiletries and First Presbyterian Church of Wasilla gave some furniture. Working together makes a huge difference!

SEPTEMBER 2004

Kevin* came into Love INC in April in great need. His wife had left him and their 4 children, his money was gone, his mortgage was due, the electricity was about to be disconnected, he had no job, the heater was broken, his leach field wasn’t draining so his plumbing was backing up and he didn’t know what to do. A Love INC volunteer counselor met with him and prayed with him and led him to accept Jesus as his Lord. Then things started to change! “Kids are People”, a local agency, was able to help with his mortgage payment and the electricity. Gospel Outreach was able to help with laundry and showers. And in a few weeks his wife even came back and Love INC was able to help with marriage counseling so that the family unit was restored! But we all prayed for 4 months about the leach field. Could God move someone to help with this big of a need? Kevin went out one day in desperation to try to dig it by hand, but to no avail. Praise the Lord for a willing church member who saw the Love INC bulletin insert and donated a new leach field for the family the end of August. They have been transformed by seeing God answer prayer. Please continue to pray for a job!
